Aboard RV Mekong Prestige II - 8 days / 7 nightsStarting from the appealing city of Siem Reap neighbouring the inescapable temples of Angkor, you will cruise the Tonle River and further the mighty Mekong towards Phnom Penh and Vietnam. The descent of the river will bring you to explore the enthralling landscapes that haunt our imagination. You will then move in the footsteps of the colonial heritage which, from Phnom Penh to Saigon, was carefully preserved and restored. After crossing the border, you will finish your journey by navigating through the riches of the Mekong Delta and then disembark in My Tho to reach the bustling and teeming Saigon. We invite you to this exploration on board of a new vessel that we have desired luxurious, elegant and comfortable. The R/V Mekong Prestige II incorporates fine French details into its contemporary interiors carefully mixed with local artifacts.
Day 1 : SIEM REAP - LAC TONLE
|Transfer from Sokha Angkor Resort hotel in Siem Reap to the pier at Phnom Krom in the morning *(Please note that in case of low waters, the transfer to the ship will be made by coach or speed boat). Welcome on board the RV MEKONG PRESTIGE II and settle into your cabin. Lunch on board. Afternoon departure crossing the Tonle Lake*. Welcome Dinner on board|
Day 2 : KAMPONG CHHNANG - KAMPONG TRALACH - OUDONG
|Arrival at Kampong Chhnang, located approximately 90 km from Phnom Penh. This is a busy rural port town with bustling markets. Board local boats to visit the authentic floating village. The life of the entire population is connected to the river with local people using the canal system which criss-cross this little town. We go ashore to stroll through the scenic market Return on board for lunch while sailing towards Kampong Tralach. Departure by bus to discover the very charming Vihara of the Wat Kampong Leu Pagoda dating back from the last century which has retained beautiful wall paintings. Return by ox-drawn carriage and bus transfer to Oudong, 40 kilometers from Phnom Penh. Between 1618 and 1866, Oudong was the capital city of Cambodia. Erected at a hilltop, this place houses numerous Stupas dating of the last Khmer Kings. We see the Vipassana Dhura Pagoda, a place of meditation for Buddhist Monks.|
Day 3 : KOH CHONG - PHNOM PENH
|Arrival in Koh Chong in the morning. Stop at this silk weaving village for a morning walk at leisure and a visit to the local workshop. Visit to a Pagoda and meeting in a primary school and chat with pupils. Lunch on board. Sailing to Phnom Penh and visit to Wat Phnom after which the city was named. Dinner on board. Traditional Khmer Apsara Dancing Show on board.|
Day 4 : PHNOM PENH
|The capital city of Cambodia still retains its old French colonial architecture in riverside streets. Morning bus tour including the Royal Palace & the Silver Pagoda. The National Museum is another highlight, with outstanding displays of Khmer crafts. Lunch on board. An afternoon excursion is arranged to the former High School « S21 », which was converted to a detention center under the Red Khmer’s rule between 1975 and 1979. Leisure time and shopping at the “Russian Market”. Dinner on board|
Day 5 : PHNOM PENH - NAVIGATION - BORDER CROSSING
|The ship departs towards the border with Vietnam. We cruise past the Mekong’s timeless villages and river life with extensive fishing activities. Crossing of the border and completion of the required formalities (normally lasts 4 hours).|
Day 6 : TAN CHAU
|Arrival in the morning at Tan Chau, a remote small town on the main Mekong River. After breakfast, transfer to small boats to visit a fishing farm. We go ashore to visit a local workshop making woven mats, and take a short walk in the village to visit a silk workshop. A rickshaw ride around this fascinating town takes you back to the pier for lunch.|
Day 7 : SA DEC - CAI BE
|Arrival at Sa Dec. . The French writer Marguerite Duras spent parts of her childhood in Sa Dec, a sprawling busy town on the Mekong Delta. Both the school where Duras’ mother taught and the small house behind it where the family lived still stand. We see the house of Marguerite’s Chinese Lover. The house is a small museum of « The Lover » in Sadec. Visit to a Caodaist Temple and a stroll through the colourful local market. Lunch on board. We cruise past Vinh Long Province, located in the middle of the Delta region, between the two tributaries of the Mekong. Arrival at Cai Be, tour on local boats to see the French Gothic Cathedral. Walk along the river bank and visit to a manufacturer of rice paper and coconut sweets. Dinner on board & traditional Music Show.|
Day 8 : MY THO - SAIGON
|Arrival at My Tho. Disembarkation after breakfast and bus transfer to Saigon city center.|
|*Important notice: it may not be possible to cross Lake Tonle if the water is low. Alternative arrangements will be made to cross the lake either by speedboat or coach to meet the city of Siem Reap. Passengers will be informed of details before departure.

The 28 Staterooms (14 on each Deck) have a surface area of 20 m² (215 Sq. Ft). They are all equipped with private balcony, large windows with sliding glass doors.
Cabin amenities: twin beds that can be put together, wardrobe and storable space; lounge with sofa, coffee table and a writing desk. Ensuitebathroom with shower, Toilet and sink. Hair Dryer and Safe are also available. Air conditioning and climate control are individually adjustable.
The 2 Junior Suites are located on the Main Deck. They have the same facilities as the staterooms but with a larger private balcony, and they are endowed with a Queen Bed and a larger sofa. The bathroom has a shower and a separated Whirlpool bathtub. They have a surface area of 24 m² (258 Sq. Ft).
The 2 Terrace Suites are on the Upper Deck. They also have a larger sofa and a larger private balcony, shower and separated whirlpool bathtub. They have a surface area of 26 m² (280 Sq. Ft).

Going on a river cruise is about exploration that is why we offer our guests a wide range of entertainment: port lectures, local entertainment such as folklore shows, Russian language lessons and nightly life music and dancing.
All the activities are included on a daily basis to provide our guests with in-depth information on the history and culture of the region. Well trained ship staff uses their knowledge and talents to make every minute of the voyage special for our passengers.
Cruise includes comprehensive excursions to the major sights and attractions in the cities and towns visited, with further excursions offered on an optional basis. All land programs are provided with the everyday handout with the day’s schedule.
The dining that is presented on board is a mixture of continental and Russian cuisines, as well as local specialties, served in a warm shipboard ambiance with a highest degree of service quality. All the meals are served in a panoramic restaurant with a breathtaking view.

Air conditioningYour cabin has its own air-conditioning unit, which can be adjusted. You are kindly requested to lower its position when leaving the cabin. All public spaces on the vessel are air-conditioned.
The ship is equipped with a Public Address System which works throughout the vessel. Arrival and departure times as well as shore excursion departure times and any changes occurring in the daily program will be announced.
The Saigon Bar is in the main lounge, located on top deck and is open every day from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm
All local beverages such as soft drinks, water, beer, coffee & tea are complimentary in Saigon bar and in the restaurant during meal times. Local wines will be served at will at Lunch & Dinner only. All imported beverages (spirits, liquors, wines, mineral waters as well as Cappuccino & Expresso) and fruit cocktails will be charged. A complimentary daily cocktail will be served in briefing time
A shop is available opposite the front office and is offering a wide range of basic items and souvenirs.

Cabin amenities and toiletries
All cabins have own private balcony. There are individual air conditioning, mini-safe, luggage storage, wardrobe, writing desk and amenities include hair dryer, bath robe, slippers in each cabin. Please dial 200 should you need any services. Please hang the cabin service sign outside your cabin when leaving so that our staff can attend you better, and hang the do not disturb sign if you desire privacy. Shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, soap is available in your bathroom.
Climate and weather conditions
Cambodia and Vietnam enjoy a tropical climate, hot and moist. The cool dry season runs from November to late March, the temperatures are around 30° Celsius/86° Fahrenheit and have low amplitude.
Communication and internet
Two computers are at disposal in the Saigon lounge and a free wireless connection is available. However, the connectivity may be in some places unstable and slow.
Daily schedule and program
A printed daily program of the following day will be put in your cabin during dinner time. For your convenience, it is also posted on the bulletin board at the Reception desk.
Breakfast & Lunch are served on buffet. Dinner is served in a one sitting service. The cuisine is a European influenced local food.
Dress code is informal. We advise you to bring cotton garments comfortable and practical. Do not forget wool jacket, waterproof light, walking shoes for excursions, bathing suit, sunglasses and sun hat and sunscreen products.
All outlets are 220 V, continental European format. The outlet in your bathroom is convertible to 110 V and is to be used for electric shavers only. A converter and an adapter are needed for all other 110 V appliances used in your cabin.
Group shore excursions are organized every day and will be accompanied by a tour guide. Details of these excursions are posted on the daily schedule. Passengers should collect their boarding pass when disembarking and return the cards so that we know if anyone is missing.

A gym is located near the Indoor bar Lounge and the use of this facility is free of charge
Food safety and hygiene
Special sterilized water is used for cooking and food preparation onboard.
Slippers are provided for your comfort aboard. At certain times the river banks can be muddy and therefore slippery or dusty and we ask you to remove your footwear when returning on board so that we can clean your shoes.
Health and vaccination
No vaccinations are required. It is advisable to follow an anti-malaria treatment. Please contact your own GP or Doctor for the prescription. There is no Doctor on board. However, in case of emergency, local medical stations are within reach on landNo vaccination is required.
English & French are official language on board on the Mekong Prestige I; English & German on the Mekong Prestige II.
A regular on board laundry service is available to passengers and a price list and Laundry bag have been placed in each cabin. If you wish to use this service, please place items in the laundry bag provided and leave them in your cabin. They will be picked up by your cabin steward and returned the next day. Dry cleaning is not possible on the ship.
There is a small library located in the Saigon Lounge. Please return the book after reading.
Two massage salons are available at Sun Deck (extra services). Please contact the reception to book these services.
The currency used on board is the USD ($). The Vietnamese Dong is also accepted. The Purser will be happy to give you any exchange rate information you may need. You are advised to bring with you notes in small denomination. Credit cards are also taken on board (Visa & MasterCard). All on-board expenses will be charged to your shipboard account and settled at the end of the cruise (in USD or Credit card).
Payment and shipboard account
All passengers have a Shipboard Account. Upon embarkation, an account is automatically opened for your convenience so that you can charge all shipboard expenses. All onboard charges are in USD ($). Please note that only bills with an amount over 25 $ can be settled by credit card and Amex is not taken on board. The local currencies are the Vietnam Dong and the Cambodian Riel.
Before the end of the cruise, you will be given a questionnaire. You are kindly requested to take the time to fill it in. Your comments are important to us.
Located on the Upper Deck, the Reception Desk is open 24 hours a day
For the safety and comfort of our passengers, all enclosed public areas as well as cabins, are strictly non-smoking. Smoking is only possible on Sun Deck. Please never throw any cigarette butts overboard.

Safety and security
When in port a 24 hour watch is kept on the gangplank controlling access to the ship. All cabins have a combination type safe.
Tips for the crew and the staff are included in your on-board package. We leave to your own appreciation tips for guides and drivers during excursions. We recommend a whole amount of $ 30 per passenger for the ashore tipping.
Towels are available on the Sun Deck and will be graciously delivered by the Bar attendant.
For security reasons, visitors are not allowed on board.
